Stuart Popejoy: “VOID” with Chris Dingman
Stuart Popejoy and Chris Dingman will perform “Void,” an extended
algorithmic composition by Stuart Popejoy for electric bass and
vibraphone. The piece begins with inversions of a single tetrad chord,
which are then polyphonically mutated through three generations of a
combinatorial process, before presenting the same tetrad and mutations
in melodic space. The performers are free to pace and texture the
evolving sounds improvisationally, creating a multi-dimensional
excursion through the motific procedure.

Satoshi Takeishi – drums

Violinist/vocalist Sarah Bernstein is joined by percussionist Satoshi
Takeishi for a set of original music and spoken text. Bernstein’s

Adam Rudolph’s Moving Pictures @ Jazz Gallery

July 29, 2011
7:00 pm

Definitely an exciting event — I’m playing with Adam Rudolph’s octet, doing music that is similar to the Organic Orchestra but … different, and obviously with Adam’s tremendous percussive firepower on display. Graham Haynes on trumpet, Kenny Wessel on guitar, Joe Bowie on trombone, Brahim Fribgane on oud and percussion, James Hurt on percussion, Matt Kilmer on percussion, and myself on acoustic bass guitar.
