Stuart Popejoy is a bassist, keyboardist, composer, audio engineer and software developer in Brooklyn NY. Current projects are Iron Dog (with Sarah Bernstein and Andrew Drury), Bassoon (with Sean Moran and John Mettam), and a new original trio with Anders Nillson and Vinnie Sperrazza. Other recent collaborators include Adam Rudolph (Go Organic Orchestra and Moving Pictures Octet), Avram Fefer, Tomasso Cappellato, Alex Marcelo, Kaoru Watanabe, Chris Dingman, Harris Eisenstadt, Sara Schoenbeck, Sean Kennerly, Harvey Milk, Steve Tanner, Sean Powell. Recordings include the recent Iron Dog release “Field Recordings 1″ and an eponymous full-length “Path of Least Resistance” with Sean Kennerly, with upcoming releases for Bassoon and Iron Dog. Notable performances include the premier of “Void”, a 45-minute algorithmic composition for vibes and bass, with Chris Dingman, and recent performances with Sarah Bernstein Quartet alongside Kris Davis and Ches Smith. Stuart is an experienced sound designer and is currently developing performance software in SuperCollider, and has engineered recordings since 1995.
